Castle Howard runs a delightful Christmas event, where the rooms are decorated to a festive theme. You can walk around and see the rooms and the "story" of the massively impressive festive decorations. I went in 2023, it was a peter pan themed and so pretty. They had a temporary shop extension and cafe in the back, the food wasn't worth the high cost IMO but the shop was lovely, all the different things to see, from lake with play area, the gardens, the main house, garden centre and the entrence courtyard had a cafe and shop also. And peacocks roaming between cars in the carpark which was novel. I also like that no cars past the entrance. To get to the lake or main house from the entrance courtyard, you could walk or use their tractor train which was so cute. Disability access was difficult, they had it but it didnt cover all areas, was slow and had long wait times, especially for the main stair case stair lift, but thats normal as most architects, even these days, dont think about disability access.

Burghley House was built by William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley KG PC (13 September 1520 - 4 August 1598) who was an English statesman, the chief adviser of Queen Elizabeth I for most of her reign, twice Secretary of State (1550-1553 and 1558-1572) and Lord High Treasurer from 1572. He modelled Burghley House on the once majestic and now lost Richmond Palace, which was a royal home to British royalty long before Buckingham Palace even existed. William Cecil frequented and stayed at Richmond Palace. As a mark of loyalty and in case he would receive the monarch as a guest, he cleverly modelled Burghley House on Richmond Palace, so the monarch would be in familiar surroundings and their court and entourage would seamlessly adapt to the surroundings. When one looks at Burghley House, one actually looks upon Richmond Palace.

I live in Northumberland and love this castle and its location just up from holy island, but i wouldn't say its the best in the country 1000s to pick from but i like Windsor castle. Ive just been campsite next to walkworth castle, it was great its called walkmill campsite worth a visit

Chatworth house is actually Pemberley but this bbc version is fine too😂

not cool. they are too lsrge and useless. you could do same architecture with panoramic windows and glass doors with green terasses 🧐 maybe 400-600 sqm per family, surrounded by private family gardens. and make a multyple cluster village system kind of one entertainment center with good food etc socialisation. and hundred family houses 😊 that could be cool
